When you're in the market for solar panels for your RV, there are a few things you should know before you buy. You should know how much power you're really getting from your panels, and how much power you use daily. The answers to these questions will ensure that you get what you need from your solar kit without buying more than you can use.
Recreational Vehicle (or RV for short) owners are in a unique position to take advantage of solar power. The twelve volt (12V) power system used in most RVs can be easily modified to accommodate solar augmentation. The question facing RV owners looking to purchase solar panels is usually this. How much solar power should I be buying for my RV? What you purchase depends on many factors, a few of which are covered here.
The first thing you want to consider when considering solar power is what you want to accomplish with it. Do you want your RV to be completely independent, able to stay in a location for weeks at a time without requiring a power charge or generator? Or are you simply looking to get extra battery life out of your RV? Complete self sufficiency is a great option for those with enough surface area to accomplish it.
In order to figure out how many solar panels you would need to be completely self powered, you need to be able to provide an accurate usage estimate. For instance if you do not need to heat or cool your RV, you don't run a microwave, and you drive every other day your solar power needs will be minimal. However if you want to camp in a single spot for over a week without turning on a generator, you need to run a space heater at night, and you leave a light on at night; you will need significantly more in the way of solar power.
To calculate your power usage, it is easiest to use a worksheet. There are several worksheets available online. The sheet will list the approximate amperage for various RV appliances. You multiply the number by the amount of time that appliance would spend running in a typical day, which will yield an answer in the form of amp/hours. A typical 80 watt RV solar kit will provide a panel that can produce 25-35 amp/hours of power. To figure your actual solar needs, give yourself a 10-15% buffer for efficiency loss in the storage system, and purchase enough panels to provide the necessary power.
If you're a seasoned RV owner, you understand that space is at a premium in an RV. It is no different when it comes to solar power, you will need to carefully consider your installation options. Angled panels will provide better power production than panels that lie flat on your roof. An angled panel on the top corners of your vehicle will raise your vehicle's profile, this is important to take into consideration when navigating an RV.
Regardless of whether you decide to provide a boost in battery life with a few solar panels or become a completely self sufficient power generating environment; an RV solar kit is an investment that will pay itself off over time. Leaving the generator off while camped will be more peaceful, and better for the environment to boot. If you plan well, solar panels will reward you with headache free power for years.
Anne Clarke writes numerous articles for Web sites on gardening, parenting, fashion, and home decor. Her background also includes teaching, gardening, and fashion. For more of her useful articles on solar power, visit Solar RV Kits, supplier of solar kits for your RV, marine vehicle, or home.

An Easy Way to Prevent Being Scammed
You're an RVer, I'm an RVer. Neither of us likes to be scammed. We'd rather spend our hard-earned money for accessories for our rig or for fuel so we can explore new places. Yet there are those who would take our dollars from us in a dishonorable manner. This article gives one way to avoid having it happen to you.
We all like a good bargain when we can find one. I've yet to meet an RVer who doesn't, even if they're driving a top-of-the-line and beautiful Class A motorhome.
Here's an example, based on an offer I recently received. First, it appears to be a great bargain: a free lunch or dinner, an MP3 player, and a 90-minute "conference" on "Internet Marketing Strategies" for only an investment of my time. The official tickets we received, one for me and one for a guest, were impressive; they even had the reservation ID printed on them.
Because I sell an RV accessory on the internet, I'm interested in internet marketing. I thought, "Hey, I can always learn something useful! And my wife has been interested in an MP3 player, so let's go!" I called the specified 800 number and made a reservation for the lunch-time conference.
Being of a cautious and conservative nature, plus remembering what my friend Chuck always said ("It's always good to have one more answer than they have questions,") I thought I'd see what I could learn about the sponsoring company.
Google, here I come! I Googled the name of the company plus the word "review." Was I surprised! Over thirty-seven million references!
The very first one listed was a review of the company's conference and workshops. It also contained hundreds of comments by those who had attended either the conference or the workshop or who had invested in the products they were selling.
Nearly all comments were negative; those which weren't were neutral at best. Many of the responders had spent thousands of dollars with the company for websites. The websites, reportedly, were anything but simple to get up and running and support was essentially none existent.
After reading the comments and the reviews of the conference and workshop, I decided that our time could be much better spent doing almost anything other than getting involved with that company. Besides, I probably would have just sat there and gotten more and more upset by what I heard. I'm retired and don't need that!
I called the reservation 800 number and canceled.
The moral of this little story: Research companies with which you consider having any kind of relationship. It's so easy to do on Google or other search engines. It might save you frustration and dollars, lots of dollars.
On the positive side, such research might lead you to an opportunity which sounds honest and legitimate and is worth considering. They can't all be bad, can they?
Let's concentrate more on the recreation part of our lives and avoid stress, frustration, and out-and-out rip-offs. That's why we have RVs, isn't it? A quick check on Google might help.

Finding Bank Repo RVs at Auction
Find the best way to locate rv bank repos. Tips and trips to buying at wholesales prices and saving 1000s.
The best way to locate a repo RV is through making contact with a bank or other lending institution. You may face some challenges getting to the right person who can answer your question, but be persistent. Eventually you'll learn what's available and whether their auctions are open to anyone. Ideally, you'll find good bank repo RV opportunities with several different lenders. The largest West Coast subprime lender, historically, has been American General Finance. That's where we used to send any buyers we knew couldn't get financing elsewhere. Those kinds of subprime lenders are the ideal place to find bank repo RVs.
Sometimes the repos are sold at silent auctions, and other times you'll need to attend a vocal auction. They should let you inspect the RV before the auction, but RV bank repo sales are considered final. It's an As-Is arrangement.
Unlike homes that have been foreclosed on, a repo RV bought at auction can generally be assumed to be in excellent condition, but you'll still want to get the most value for the price. In particular, a bank auction is a great opportunity to get lots of normally pricey upgrades along with your RV. It's common to find things like internet, generators, and satellites at prices far below their market value. Pay attention to these little details and make the most of your purchase.
The most important part of making the purchase of a bank repo RV is to be focused. Know what your ceiling bid is going to be before the auction even starts. That way you don't end up overpaying or losing your shirt in a bidding war. Commit yourself to that price. If you start getting emotional and wanting to overbid, you're entering dangerous territory. That's how people lose at an auction.
Be sure and do an inspection of your bank repo RV wherever you're allowed. Figure out what needs fixing and deduct that cost from your preset maximum bid. In cases where an inspection isn't permitted, you still need to have a contingency factored in. Plan on somewhere around five to fifteen percent over the general cost of making minor repairs. (Though, in some states, lemon laws will give you between 24 hours and three days to get your money back for the bank repo RV if you find significant problems.
Just make sure you know what your target repo RV is worth. That's where you start when you're looking for a good deal. Before you ever start bidding, have an approximate idea of the value of the bank repo RV. You might use one of the guide books that are available: NADA, for example, or the Kelley Blue Book. Should you use NADA, keep in mind you are buying at private party value. This means you're going to making the purchase at or below trade in pricing. Not many people know this pricing, but you can call dealerships, telling them you have a trade-in, and they'll be all too happy to give you a low price to work with. Talk to several to get a good average.
That should be plenty to get you started. Have fun finding a killer deal on a bank repo RV!

How Water Pumps Work
A water pump is commonly found in homes and in recreational vehicles. Have you ever wondered how they work, and how you can decide on a water pump that will provide you with the best flow? Hopefully we can cover that and more in the following article.
A water pump is usually used to create and maintain a certain amount of water pressure. This is important because there are times when taking a shower or flushing a toilet with a minimal amount of water just isn't enough. Imagine if you took a shower and only had a trickle of water come out of the shower head. This would not only be frustrating, but most likely cold in the winter time.
A water pump is good for regulating this, and in most RV cases, the water pump is used whether on the road our at an RV park. In many cases the RV park where a person is staying may not have the type of pressure that is conducive for a good shower.
Not all water pumps are created equal, and in many cases depending on whether you have a water pump which runs on AC or DC power, you will be able to use batteries, or a generator to pull power from later on when you are not at a camp site or RV park.
An issue that a lot of people have after buying a new pump is the noise. Water pumps are rated on noise level, but much of this can be reduced depending on the way it was mounted. If a pump is not properly mounted, it can keep you up during the night.
Whether you have a 5th wheel, some other type of travel trailer, or a traditional RV, almost all the water pumps fit and work in much of the same way. Time should be taken to look at additional options which will help you decide the type or water pump and output you may want for your RV or Motor Home.
PL Garcia keeps up with the latest RV parts including the 12 volt water pump and AC pumps. He also helps trouble shoot issues you might have with water pumps in washing machines and other appliances.

Accessories That Make For a Smooth Ride
Just about everything now days has accessories. When it comes to Motor Homes, there are more than you can imagine. But sometimes accessories that can't be seen are some of the most valuable for a smooth ride when you are rolling down the road at 65 miles per hour. Lets discuss what they are and how they work.
Driving down the road in an RV can be a comfortable experience, or one that is lacking in comfort. This is so because each RV rides differently. Some which have old suspensions can also cause a lot of bounce or hard pounding whenever you drive over large potholes or dips.
Fortunately one of the accessories that you can purchase to improve the ride is an RV suspension enhancement system. These not only improve the ride, but help improve the strength of the RV caused by the load being added to it.
Just as a hot water heater can produce the electricity needed to heat the water which makes for a more comfortable shower, so also the suspension system will have a lot to do with how enjoyable your trip is whether it be short or long.
Another type of accessory which can also help when driving is a camera in the back of your RV. If you are tired of always checking your mirrors and wondering if someone is behind you or not, you can now use something that will allow you to view who is behind you through use of a camera and monitor. This prevents a lot of strain on the eyes and neck, and gives you assurance you are not going to hit someone.
As you can see there are accessories which can enhance your drive in an RV. The latter mentioned are just a few of the things that will make your trip seem a little quicker, and also allow you and your family to relax a bit more while on the road.

Those Red and Yellow Lights Are Not Dashboard Decorations
Most of the warning lights are obvious, like the low fuel light, but the check engine light can be tricky because it can cover a variety of potential problems - simple to major. Don't get caught on the side of the road, learn how to do preventive maintenance yourself.
Those red and yellow lights are not dashboard decorations. They are warning signals that there is a potential problem and you need to "check it out." Your dashboard has a number of different warning lights that indicate different problems - battery, gas, etc., and these should not be ignored.
When you start your car, all of the lights come on, but you should only be concerned with lights that stay on after your car is started or that come on while you are driving. This is your vehicle's way of letting you know something is wrong and you need to troubleshoot the problem.
Most of the warning lights are obvious, like the low fuel light or the battery light, but the check engine light can be tricky because it can cover a variety of potential problems.
RED WARNING LIGHT
A red warning light means there is an urgent problem. If you are driving, you need to pull over. This could mean your engine is over-heating, low oil pressure, low battery voltage, transmission over-heating, or brake failure. These problems all require immediate attention and you should not continue to drive your vehicle. A red warning light can also indicate a safety issue, but most times it means "DANGER."
Here are just a few things to check when the red light in your vehicle comes on:
-Low fluids (engine oil, transmission fluid, anti-freeze, brake fluid).
-Alternator issues (low voltage), not charge the battery, faulty battery.
-Broken belts.
YELLOW WARNING LIGHT
A yellow warning light is an indication of a potential problem. This is a warning signal. Some common things that may cause the yellow light to come on (Service engine soon) include:
-Computer system problems.
-Emissions problems.
-Anti-lock brake systems.
This means that you need to bring your car in for servicing. Before you go, you may want to troubleshoot your problems to save yourself some time and money. Take a look at the troubleshooting videos at 4 U Car Online and see if you can't rule out some of the minor problems yourself.
Never, ever ignore warning lights. These matter require your attention and if not resolved, could cause major damage to your vehicle resulting in expensive repairs.
Preventive maintenance to check your fluids, your belts and hoses, and your battery will help reduce the chances of breakdowns on the road. If you're not a "mechanic," but mechanically inclined, take a look a some of the videos and see how easy it is to do this maintenance yourself.

Tire Pressure
Believe or not, you can contribute to the environment by maintaining the condition of your tires. When you neglect to keep your tires inflated to the proper pounds per square inch (PSI) rating, their function is affected and they require more energy to maintain the same use and speed you speed you require. This overuse and abuse contributes to pollution and fuel use.

When you neglect to keep your tires inflated to the proper pounds per square inch (PSI) rating, their function is affected and they require more energy to maintain the same use and speed you speed you require. This overuse and abuse contributes to pollution and fuel use.
The best way you can guarantee the best function and lowest impact of your tires is by keeping them properly inflated. It has been reported that most cars in the United States are operating on those that are only inflated to merely eighty percent of their capacity. If you keep them properly inflated, you can improve your mileage by about three percent. For every PSI drop in pressure, you lose an average of .5 percent in your mileage.
While this may not seem like a significant difference, it really does add up. The average person drives about 12,000 miles a year, and when that driving is done on under-inflated tires, an extra 144 gallons of gas are burned. This means an extra $300-$500 dollars spent a year on a gas alone. Even worse, each gallon of that gas contributes an extra 20 pounds of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, which means that each vehicle running on under-inflated tires is contributing 1.5 extra tons of toxic gas to the environment each year.
If the environmental reasons are not enough, simply remember that better maintained tires are less likely to fail you at high speeds. You will have a harder time breaking and driving on wet surfaces with under-inflated tires, which causes more accidents and simply adds more time to reaching your destination. It is recommended that you check your pressure monthly.
Each car has a different correct air pressure, and that number can be found in your owner's manual as well as on the insider of the driver's door. Weather can take a significant toll on tires, so it is better to check pressure more often when it is especially cold or hot out for extended periods of time. Keep in mind that replacements will often have a different PSI rating than the originals, so make sure to keep track of the new number and which tire it should be assigned to. All cars that are manufactured after 2008 have pressure monitoring systems installed, so it will be easier than ever to keep track of each. These systems will alert the driver if the pressure falls below the recommended level. While this may be more expensive, doing so will save many lives on the road each year.

If you have car water damage in your car, you will need to tend to it quickly for best results. If your car is involved in a flood, it may very likely have been submerged. This can affect, not only the cosmetics of your vehicle, but the electronic system, as well.
Even if your car hasn't been submerged there could still be significant damage. If you drive through a flooded area or there is a way for water to enter the engine, this could also cause serious problems. Any large dents in the hood could also be an area for it to enter.
If you have been involved in a flood, first check all of your fluids. If they are an off color, have your vehicle towed to an auto mechanic. Don't drive it! You may cause permanent problems. They will empty the fluids and replace them properly for you.
If you have a newer car, the electrical system may also be involved. If you are in doubt... the dash lights on, running rough etc, tow it to a mechanic. They may need to replace the components.
Your brakes could also be involved. Have them inspected to make sure that they will perform properly. It is possible you may also need to replace them.
If the interior is involved, you will need to clean it well. You can use a wet vac to vacuum most of the water out. If it is soaked, you may find you need to redo the interior due to mold. It is too difficult to dry out the inner seats and many insurance companies will total a car that has interior water damage.
You will need to also check all of the lubricated joints. Most cars are now lubricated at the factory for life, but with flooding, they may have been compromised and will need to be re-lubricated.
If you are purchasing a used car, some states require owners to let the DMV know if it has been involved in a flood. You can also research the VIN number on your own to be sure there hasn't been any car water damage.

How to Stop Your Car From Rolling Excessively in Corners
Does your car corner like a boat? You know. That feeling you get where everybody leans away from the turn as one side of the car dips and the other rises? The problem is you either have no sway bar or a very weak one.
oes your car corner like a boat? You know. That feeling you get where everybody leans away from the turn as one side of the car dips and the other rises? The problem is you either have no sway bar or a very weak one.
Every car pitches when it goes into a corner. The pitch represents the number of degrees the car tilts when it turns. The higher the pitch, the more the car is considered to roll. In general, roll is not good. It is uncomfortable and puts stress on everything from your tires to steering linkage and even the frame of the car. Over time, this can all cause problems.
The sway bar is a creation that is designed to address the roll in cars. These bars work by creating rigidity in the car structure from a horizontal perspective. They are connected the suspension and work by transferring the tension in a turn from one side of the car to the other. This keeps the car from rolling and cuts the pitch dramatically.
So, how can you use a sway bar to stop your car from rolling? Well, you can buy an aftermarket sway bar kit for most cars these days. Every kit works a bit differently, so you'll need to go by the specific instructions that come with it. I realize this goes against of fiber of being for most men, but this is one time where you really want to read the instructions.
Generally, most kits are designed to be used on the front suspension. They are surprisingly easy to install. Why? They run across the top of the engine and are secured at the top of the strut assembly. If you pop your head and look about two thirds of the way back from the front of the car towards the driver's compartment, you'll see a mount sticking up. This is the top of the strut. There are usually three or more bolts. The sway bar kits are designed to fit right on these connections. Again, it depends on the kit and the car, but it is a surprisingly simple process.
If you are getting sea sick form the roll your car performs in turns, a sway bar could be the answer. Kits run a couple hundred bucks, but make a major difference in how your car drives. They are definitely worth it if you are in the car a lot.

Diesel Truck Repair Saving Tips From an Experienced Diesel Mechanic
Being a trucker taking care of business and hauling loads across the continent is a rough job and needs to be as efficient as possible to be more profitable. I want to give you truckers some saving tips to help your truck make more per mile.
Being a trucker taking care of business and hauling loads across the continent is a rough job.
You get in the rhythm of hearing your truck sizzle on down the road day in and day out. At days end you have more paperwork than some sectary's.
Trucking is not just a job; it's a lifestyle!
Here's how you can save from having a premature blow out on your new closed side drive tires. These new deep tread tires collect marble sized rocks. These rocks push their way all the way to the cords during the first half of the tires life before they are spit out. these bare spots the cords will start rusting and get fragile and the tire will have a blow out and that means fenders or mudflaps. It means the tire man is going to half to try to find another tire to match up etc etc. As a experienced mechanic I check all my customers tires when they bring it in for a service. I have saved at least a hundred tires from having a premature blow out.
I have discovered this by checking on the other tires on the truck to see why this one tire blew out and I started finding bare spots between the treads from where the rocks lived early in the tires life. Bare spots all the way to the cords. So when you get a new set of drive tires keep an eye on them rocks if you start seeing them go deep and start to be several of them DIG THEM OUT!
When your out on the road you pack the essentials to get you from destination to destination from clothing, food, and a small selection of tools to get you home. Weather it be a light repair, airing up the tires, checking your oil levels to giving that chrome a polish. You can only carry so much and the rest you have to hope you don't have a breakdown out on the road and have to pay that outrageous service call fee.
Driving a truck can be so free when your relaxing sitting back and either talking on that radio to a buddy or to someone you don't even know! Or even when you have your radio cranked up and listening to your favorite tunes singing along its still trucking. At the end of the day you roll your diesel truck in to your favorite truck stops and kickback to your own little world.
Trucking is defiantly a lifestyle in my opinion not just a job. There are a lot of trucking jobs out there from a daily route hauling mail to hauling rock locally but I will say its in all of your blood to just want to power it up burn fuel and hear that diesel talk. Whats better than waking up to a cool morning after a goods nights sleep and you get up there and you hit that key and the whole diesel machine comes to life like a monster coming out of the ground? You get out and make a walk around and look your massive piece of diesel machinery over. You look over under and around in respect for this awesome piece of diesel machinery. after a few checks your ready to hit that horn and move out.

How Quality Used Auto Parts Save Money and Time
When a vehicle needs some type of repair, one of the first questions asked is how much is it going to cost. The answer will be "a lot" especially if buying the parts new from a dealership.
When a vehicle needs some type of repair, one of the first questions asked is how much is it going to cost. The answer will be "a lot" especially if buying the parts new from a dealership. Today there is an alternative to spending tremendous amounts of money on new parts that are overpriced.
Choosing to purchase used auto parts to repair an automobile used to be something that only shade tree mechanics did. That is no longer the case. Now day's people are discovering the value of used parts and luckily, the auto recyclers that supply them are now undergoing a rebirth as well.
Auto recyclers buy salvage vehicles of all years and depending on the age and damage to the vehicle. Some of these are acquired quite cheaply. Once the auto recycler has received a nonoperable vehicle, the first thing that generally happens is the auto recycler applies for a salvage title. When this has been received, the auto recycler then employs standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency for the safe recovery and disposal of hazardous wastes. Once these have been properly dealt with, the recycler access the automobile for all useable parts. Then the dismantling process begins. All parts removed from the vehicle for resell to the public are usually inspected and tested if possible. Parts are then entered into a direct access inventory computer software program. This information is then shared electronically over the internet. Now days with just a few clicks of a mouse it is easy determine where the needed part may be located.
Utilizing used parts not only saves money for consumers, another benefit of used parts it the benefit it gives to the environment. Many have no idea what types of hazardous materials are used in automobiles today. These chemicals range from motor oil to transmission fluid to Freon contained in the air conditioner. If these materials were left in vehicles before they are dismantled or crushed then they enter our environment and do damage to delicate ecosystems. Today, auto recyclers use the latest technology to ensure that these dangerous materials are disposed of properly. Once the chemicals and useable parts are removed, the left over metal body is sent to be crushed or shredded. To date the metal recovered from salvage automobiles has resulted in enough recycled metal to build over thirteen million new vehicles. As a result, hundreds of tons of raw iron and other precious metals that are non-renewable are preserved every year.
In order to take advantage of all the benefits of choosing to used parts to repair vehicles, one simply only ask the mechanic doing the repairs. All though many were hesitant to go this route in the past, today most are quite willing to locate the necessary used part and pass the savings onto their customers. Most will also allow the customer to locate the used part and have it brought in. Should one not be available locally most recyclers are also happy to ship the part directly to where it needs to go.

Find the Best Audio System
There is nothing quite like cruising around on a beautiful day with your music up and the windows down. Listening to music is even better when you have an awesome sound system. Finding the perfect speakers for you can be a challenge. It does take a lot of work if you are not already familiar with speaker brands and type. This is one product that you do not want to buy on impulse. Chances are that you will regret your decision and end up having speakers to return or resell. Gather some basic information about speakers before you make your purchase. It will make the entire process go a lot smoother.

Gather some basic information about speakers before you make your purchase. It will make the entire process go a lot smoother.
Sometimes all you need is the right speaker to improve even the most general sound system. There are many terms that you have probably heard tossed around in regards to speaker systems. Do not make the assumption that you have to have every one of these components. If all you want is basic speakers, then you can likely find some in a decent price range in your local auto parts store. It is often best to stay away from the cheapest ones. Find a happy medium if you can and always read the details on the box first.
Many people want a bass booming sound that will quickly turn heads as you drive by. That is rather easy to obtain. A sub woofer is used, often along with an amplifier to increase the output of sound. The difference is noticeable right away when compared to speakers without a sub woofer. Two ten inch sub woofers is often best for someone that is seeking adequate sound without something that is over the top or competition level. Sub woofers do require a substantial amount of power though since they have to move a lot of air to produce the best sound.
When you select car speakers, you certainly want to pay close attention to the brand. Choosing a brand that is known for electronics and speaker components is best. It is easy to get sucked into buying something generic or unheard of just because it is cheap in price. That often means it is also cheap in quality though and it is likely best left avoided. Stick with a brand that you know you can trust. Even if it is not top of the line, it needs to be something that you feel comfortable investing your time and money in.
If you want the biggest boom possible and price is not an issue to you, then there are many amazing competition level speakers and speaker components. They are often much higher in price but are often worth it in terms of quality and the clarity of the sound. Find a business that specializes in speaker sales. They will have staff that will be equipped to answer all of your questions and explain details to you. The right set of car speakers can take your vehicle to a whole new level of entertainment. Be sure to hold onto any receipts though, just in case.

Car Gadgets
We spend a lot of time in our cars, many hi tech gadgets for car are very practical while others are all show. This article plays in a little of both areas.
We spend a lot of time in our cars; many people consider it just a means of getting from point "A" to point "B". But there are some great creature comforts and downright entertaining hi tech gadgets on the market today. These gadgets won't make your car Kit from Knight Rider (well maybe one will), but the article addresses a few items to consider, but obviously there are a lot more.
HD Radio is one of the most impressive and practical gadgets available. It provides a huge technology lead from what we have become accustomed to with AM and FM radio stations into what is now digital radio. The cost is all on the front end with the equipment, there is no monthly subscription fees, no hissing associated with radio and many more stations to choose from.
FLIR Systems developed the PathFindIR to provide thermal imaging that increases nighttime visibility. The device is shown through a camera and it allows the driver to see people, animals or whatever up to 2000 feet which is way further than we currently see in the dark. The cool think is you can continue to see that distance through snow, rain and snow. As you can imagine it's been tested by the military too. This is a cool gadget, but for the price you will have to do some justification on why you need it.
Garmin has a free download that is available only on its nüvi GPS system, its called ecoroute. Ecoroute measures how environmentally friendly your driving is, rating you between 1 and 100 so you can see how well you are doing. It gives you real time feedback, which ideally saves you money and the environment all at once.
The Koolatron Compact Cooler gives you a place to put those cold ones and keep them cold, or a sandwich, or a...heck this thing is a refrigerator for your car! It was designed to fit in a tight place like between seats or behind one of them. It plugs into your cigarette lighter and keeps food 40 degrees cooler than the outside temperature.
Now if someone can just make a car stove to go along with the refrigerator we would all be set, for now we will have to be satisfied with frying eggs on the hood. In a later article I will be taking a look at some of the cool spy gadgets available on the market.

* frequency response: 35-32,000 Hz
* recommended power range: 2-40 watts RMS
Pioneer has always delivered quality products. These speakers are awesome for the price. I replaced the cheap factory speakers with these and the quality is much improved, you can really hear much more depth and distinct sounds in the music. These speakers are perfect for the F150. Takes all of 10min to make connections and then your audio goes from night to day. Excellent quality. Bass response second to none. Considering adding 2 more to the rear doors.
The Radio distorts before the Speakers so that's a good thing. Haven't put any power amps to them but I'm sure they can handle what they are rated for by the way they sound at high volumes.
However, if you want something that rattles the windows, these are not the speakers for you. But all in all, theses are a great upgrade from the distorted factory speakers and a great price as well. Would recommend to another looking for a speaker those rocks but is easy on the wallet. For the price you cannot go wrong. You can spend more but I doubt you can improve the sound quality.
Remember, when you buying speaker systems, one should have a detailed knowledge about Speakers and sound systems. It is not advisable to have a blasting effect of sound in your car. So, choose the best car audio for your vehicle and enjoy the music of your choice. Just make sure you stay away from car audio from gray market along with those that come with small controls, faux equipments that make the handling all the more complicated. Always go for the originally manufactured equipments that come with a prior guarantee.

Understand Car Speakers
Buying new car speakers can be a simple process or it can be a thorough, detailed one. It really all depends on what it is that you require. Personal preference is the main thing. Your decision will be easier to make if you understand speakers and their various types and components. If you walk into a store looking for speakers and you know nothing about them, chances are good that you may be taken advantage of by sales people. If you have even a limited knowledge of speakers, you will stand a better chance of finding something that you will be happy with.

If you walk into a store looking for speakers and you know nothing about them, chances are good that you may be taken advantage of by sales people. If you have even a limited knowledge of speakers, you will stand a better chance of finding something that you will be happy with.
Start by determining your budget for speakers. Different price ranges will determine what you can choose from. There are basic speakers for the everyday but there are also speakers that are designated to be competition level. Coaxial speakers are relatively common and popular. They come as part of most factory installed stereo systems. Newer cars will have a better set, often having both a mid woofer and a tweeter. Factory systems have greatly improved over time but upgrading is still preferred by most. Most department stores or Wal-Mart locations have a variety of coaxial speakers to choose from. This is the best bet for someone seeking better sound for a relatively low price.
Many people want to increase the lower bass sounds in the music. This requires a certain type of speaker called a sub woofer. There are different types of sub woofer, many of which are designed for certain car types. Pay attention to the details because some of these speakers must be enclosed in the trunk in order to work effectively. Prices will range on sub woofers, usually due to brand and quality as well as output level. Smaller vehicles may not need one as strong as a larger vehicle so keep these factors in mind as you shop.
Some people believe that rear speakers are more important than front speakers. This is actually not quite true. Front speakers are closer to the driver and therefore, there is less distance for music to travel. Do not make the mistake of replacing rear speakers and forgetting about the front ones. It will not give you the desired sound or quality. Seeking out a professional may be beneficial in terms of getting into specifics. They can answer any questions that you have and give you specifications regarding various speakers and why or why not you should consider them.
There are other important aspects to consider and remember. Different power levels may be required depending which speaker you choose. Also, you need to select the correct size of speaker. Round speakers tend to have a better sound quality than oval shaped ones. However, bass noise is often better with oval speakers. There are so many facets to consider, it can become overwhelming. This is why you should approach speaker purchase with caution and arm yourself with as much information as possible. Understanding car speakers is the first step in finding the best ones for your car and preference.

The Difference Between Vehicle Hard Disk Video Recorder and Ordinary Video Recorder
We are always asked by our clients, that is, what is the difference between Vehicle Hard Disk Video Recorder and ordinary Video Recorder? Actually, this is a professional question.
The Difference Between Vehicle Video Recorder and Ordinary DVR.
We are always asked by our clients, that is, what is the difference between Vehicle Hard Disk Recorder and ordinary Video Recorder? Actually, this is a professional question.
In light of their uses, there is no big difference, and they are all used for monitoring and recording. However, there is a big difference in light of their working environment.
1. Working Voltage: The Working Voltage of Vehicle Hard Disk Recorder is 24V (direct current), while the ordinary Recorder is 220V (alternating current).
2. Cameras: Vehicle Recorder usually has 2 or 4 cameras, for both monitoring and picturing, while ordinary DVR cameras are all for monitoring.
3. Hard disk: Vehicle Video Recorder adopts 2.5" mobile disk, with good anti-shock performance, while ordinary ones adopt 3.5". In addition, the key feature of Vehicle Recorder is its mobility, and easy disassembling, or the monitoring information might be a big concern.
4. Anti-shock: Vehicle DVR adopts professional anti-shock system, which can defuse shock of all vehicle types. Ordinary Recorder only adopts simple anti-shock system, or even no anti-shock system at all.
5. Working temperature: The Working temperature is 40--+80°for Vehicle Hard Disk Video Recorder and -20°---+20° for ordinary recorder.
6. To sum up, in light of the function and performance, there is a great deal discrepancy between Vehicle DVR and ordinary recorder, and you should make a good comparison before purchasing.
Definitely, there are some other differences, and you will have to explore by yourselves. I hope my passage is of some help for you.

Scooter Riders - Are Performance and Mileage Issues? Here's a Great Way to Improve Them Both!
Here's a relatively cheap method for grabbing that last ounce of performance from your scooter! OK boys and girls...this article is designed to get you more than a little bit pumped up about your scooter - to boost your pride a bit. For some reason, scooter riders are an overlooked lot or thought less of (take heed, Harley folk...if they wave at you, wave back, huh?) and it's just not fair!
We all go down the road on 2 wheels and we all face similar risks and challenges when we're out there.
If you like foolin' 'round with your li'l guy or you like others to do it for you and you'd like to snag a coupla more ponies out of it, here's a quick 'n dirty way to do it. You can simply swap out the exhaust system and re-jet the carb or dial in the fuel injectors.
If you're familiar with changing out the jets in a carburator and you can spin a wrench, you can save some bucks by doing it yourself. If your mechanical abilities are dicey at best or if you have a fuel-injected unit, and you don't own a Dynojet Power Commander or a calibration tool like it, let the folks at your favorite shop take the heat. They can easily add these pipes and dial in the injection-system for you after the installation.
Before you do anything though, if your little putt's under warranty, as a safety precaution (keeping your money safe that is...) read your warranty and make sure that such an upgrade will not violate any portion of it. If there will be a violation, IMHO, the smartest thing to do is to sit tight and wait 'til it's past the point of coverage for your bike.
I looked around and read customer reports on exhaust systems for scooters and the one that came up repeatedly was the Leo Vince 4 Road Exhaust system. Why do I look only at customer reports and ratings? Because these folks are usually just honest. They have no axe to grind...unless a product is not what it is purported to be (then they'll grind like hell sometimes.) No one is sponsoring them. They don't buy full page ads in the 'zines. The ones that write good things about an item are doing so simply because they like the item! Gimme the buyer's opinion any time. As I said, honesty!
Anyway, the Leo Vince 4 Road Exhaust system had comments like "Best Bang for the Buck!" and these rated 5 stars all 'round. This IS a solid piece of equipment made with one thing in mind...to help your scooter move down the ribbon into the 'greased lightning' category (well...greased lightning for scooters, anyway!)
Two or four-stroke, our motors are no different in requiring good aspiration than any other internal combustion engine, gas, diesel, LPG, even hydrogen...for anything sucking in O2, the freer the flow, the easier it is for the engine to work, the more horsepower that's generated...It's about reducing resistance anywhere you can, mechanically or aerodynamically. That's why turbo-chargers and blowers are used to increase horsepower and torque in racing engines...they force air into the fuel system...going beyond reducing resistance, these devices make resistance a non-sequitur. The less resistance that's encountered, the less throttle it takes to move anything on down the road.
Within the context of this dynamic, your scooter is no different than you...the less inhibited your breathing is when you run or do strenuous physical activity, the better you perform. If you don't believe me, the next time you go running, or pump iron, or skip rope, or have sex, try putting a gas-mask over your face and see how long it takes for you to max out and rip the damned thing off, (Hmmm....maybe your partner might LIKE the mask...maybe I'll write that article another time.) Breathing is essential for us and for our fuel-driven gear. Now you can be as kind to your scooter as you are to yourself!
Further, these exhaust systems will give your scooter a throatier, perhaps more aggressive sound...not necessarily louder, just throatier. If you're out toolin' 'round with your buds, yours is gonna be the scoot that stands out...and in a great way!
With that small engine on your scooter, a horsepower gain of five to fifteen or more of those ponies will make a substantial difference...especially if you're carrying a passenger. From a safety standpoint, you never know...you might need that additional power to escape from a critical situation where it makes more sense for you to hit it than it does to hit the brakes.
These exhaust systems are pure quality through and through. Each one is designed specifically for your model's motor. You WILL see a boost in power and torque, because Leo Vince's mufflers have been specially baffled and tuned to quiet the exhaust cycle, while at the same time enabling greater air/exhaust flow. And they ARE quiet...meeting European standard noise levels for road use - some of the strictest noise rules in the world. The header pipes are sealed with smooth, durable, 'tig' (tungsten inert gas) welds and they're made of AISI stainless to reduce 'bluing' (discoloration of the pipes - they can turn bluish near the engine.) AISI stainless steel is some of the finest your money can buy.
If you like performance, if you like mileage increases, you can have the best of both worlds by upgrading your exhaust system and fuel injection/carburation accordingly.
The Leo Vince 4 road's mostly run a bit less that $400.00...new jets usually for under $50.00. Labor will probably be a coupla hours. So for less than half the price of a trick new laptop, you can be kicking ass and sounding incredible when you're out running with your friends! The units look great too; they'll give a finalized, customized look to any scoot!
I know you take your scooter seriously or you wouldn't still be riding it. Why not take it to the next level and have these sweet pipes added to it? Do it a favor! Make it easier for it to run. Get that mileage and power boost you want easily! Look GREAT (at ANY cost) too!
Check your warranty, click the link below, order and and get 'em shipped (shipping is free for these!) Set up an appointment at your favorite shop and roll everything on over to be installed.
Thanx again for reading! Happy toolin' down the road, the way YOU want to roll! Be safe!

A Bike Can Change a Kid's Life
A bit of a rundown on where my love of pit bikes came from, and why they may very well be the perfect gift for your child. I remember when I was just a youngster, can't have been any older than 7 or 8, and I really wanted a Nintendo for Christmas (you know the old fashioned flip top lid insert the cartridge types, none of this Wii nonsense). Anyway, I raced out of bed Christmas morning and checked out the tree, but the only gift that was under it was nowhere near the right shape to be a Nintendo, it looked like a soccer ball.

I waited until my parents woke up and rushed over to unwrap it, and it was a bike helmet. It took me a few minutes to figure out exactly what that meant, and I ran outside. Sure enough, out on the front lawn was my very first 110cc pit bike! I looked at my Mum and Dad beaming down at me, and rushed over and gave them one of the biggest hugs I could. Man, did I love that bike, and of course, I was the envy of all my friends (actually, the number of kids I could call friends tripled around this time.
Looking back on that experience now, I am so glad that I didn't get that Nintendo. The bike had a big impact on my childhood, and during the next few years I learned a lot about mechanics, competition and mateship, which I wouldn't have learned if I was sitting in front of the box all day.
If you have a kid that is looking for some direction in their life, a pit bike could very well be a fantastic choice for them. They're fairly inexpensive, and small enough to transport around easily.
Joshua has been mucking around with pit bike parts ever since his parents first bough him that first awesome pit bike for Christmas

Motorcycle Helmet Safety
Motorcycle enthusiasts enjoy the thrill of the road, wind, and open air. They often enjoy the freedom and speed motorcycles provide. In recent years, many steps have been made to educate motorcyclists on the importance of safety. Unlike cars, motorcycles provide little protection in the case of collisions or other accidents while on the road. While clothing such as protective jackets, leggings, and boots help protect riders from injury, nothing provides more protection against serious injury than the motorcycle helmet.
It is important for anyone riding a motorcycle to choose a proper helmet, and it is important for manufacturers and vendors to provide the highest-quality products, free of defects. Studies show that helmets greatly help reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths in motorcycle accidents. That said, not all helmets are "created equal" and there are specific qualities that should be taken into consideration when choosing one for your protection.
Motorcycle Helmet Tips:
When choosing a motorcycle helmet, it is wise to test several different types and brands before purchase. The discerning rider should look for:
• Adequate weight/feel of the helmet. Helmets weighing less than one pound typically do not provide enough material for adequate protection. Look for a helmet with more significant weight, but do not choose one that severely limits your range of motion.
• Inner liner of at least one-inch thickness. Federal safety standards require at least an inch thickness of polystyrene foam. Helmets with soft foam or little padding will not provide enough protection in the event of a crash or collision.
• Proper motorcycle helmets will have sturdy chinstraps with solid rivets. Before purchase, examine the quality of the strap and the securing mechanisms to ensure solid construction.
• It is important to choose helmets with safe design. Objects such as spikes, decorations, or other protruding objects are unsafe. Visors are acceptable, but as a general rule, no object should protrude more than two-tenths of an inch from the helmet.
• Helmets should feature the appropriate compliance stickers on the outside and inside. It is important to note that some vendors provide imitation safety stickers on novelty helmets that do not comply with federal safety standards.
Although many motorcycle enthusiasts take pride in their individuality and free spirit, safety should always be practiced when operating a motorcycle. By purchasing the proper helmet, cyclists and their passengers can make sure they live to ride another day.

Yamaha FZ6R - Proof That Fun Can Also Be Comfortable
Modern motorcycling seems geared toward uncomfortable, high-speed sport bikes or heavy, gas-guzzling cruisers. The Yamaha FZ6R proves that there can be a middle ground between fun, sportiness, and comfort.
When Yamaha released the FZ6R to the public earlier this year I was quick to review it. I hastily found a brand new one, barely a week out of its crate, and went to work. Over the course of half a day I flogged the bike through corners, around treacherous terrain (bumpy roads, gravel, etc.), up and down hills, through the mountains, and then back into good old city riding. It as a memorable half day, as the Yamaha FZ6R would become one of my all time favorite casual motorcycles.
What is a "Casual" Motorcycle?
Unlike the Yamaha R6, which is a super-sport motorcycle, the Yamaha FZ6R has certain conveniences that make it appealing for new and experienced riders alike. It has a more upright riding position, with less lean to the handle bars. This makes it more comfortable to sit on and ride, and after nearly half a day of abuse and hard riding my back still wasn't sore. On the R6 my back would have been killing me within an hour.
Not only that, but it doesn't pack a 160 horsepower engine. In fact, though Yamaha has been very hush-hush about just how much power it does make, you will find that the FZ6R is rather slow in comparison to any 600cc+ super-sport. Then again, that's like saying that the Chevrolet Corvette is slower than the Ferrari F430. At no point should you think that the Yamaha FZ6R is a slow machine, as it will still complete a quarter mile in around 12 seconds, and it will still outrun just about everything else on the street.
Why I Love this Bike
Speed isn't everything for a rider like me. I know that the FZ6R can get up and go with the best of them, and while it may not be able to keep pace with the higher-strung 600cc super-sports, it is still able to put a new or experienced rider into a performance threshold far beyond anything they likely will have experienced before. Not only that, but it does so without being an incredibly uncomfortable.
It has the looks of a sport bike, with aggressive fairing and a side-mounted "shorty" exhaust. The custom color/decaling that is available really sets this bike apart from other entry-level sports bikes, and it's made very clear early on that this isn't the traditional entry-level sports bike- the days of the Suzuki Katana are long gone.
The FZ6R has the sound of an Indy car, though it's a little quieter and much more pleasing to the ear. It sounds like a bat out of hell when taking off, and when it comes time to slow down the big brakes will stop you faster than you can say "ooh, nice brakes". It's the most performance that a new rider, or even one that's had a few seasons under their belt, could ever want for in a package that's both attractive and controllable.
This is NOT your Grandmothers Sports Bike
When people hear "entry level" they immediately assume a tame, hum-drum motorcycle that might look sporty but conveniently falls short on performance. They expect skinny tires, feeble brakes, and a ratty sounding exhaust. That's what makes the FZ6R such a smashing motorcycle- at no point do you feel embarrassed when you pull up next to a super sport.

How to Build a Go Kart - 6 Important Notes About Belt Drives
A cheap go kart should be in our grasp but we just don't know how to implement it. The belt drive is the cheapest drive system available on go karts. It gives you the biggest bang for the buck. It also gives you the biggest headache for the time put into it, especially if it is not designed properly. There are 6 things to keep in mind when designing a belt drive, you will be glad you thought of them before you start diving in.
Many of us have zero money, but this mega thirst for a go kart. The belt drive can be the most cost effect drive system that you could implement, on your low cost cheap go kart.
There are, however, issues with a belt drive that need to be understood prior to just diving in and making this belt drive system.
First thing to understand is the final drive ratio. Is the engine actually going to be able to turn this system or will it stall. Keep in mind that the rpm for engagement is typically not very high, like 1200 rpms. So your calculation needs to reflect that. The HP curve for an engine is approximately linear, so if the rpms are decreased, then the HP needs to decrease accordingly.
For example a 5 hp motor will put out 87.5 in-lbs of torque at 3600 rpms. But the same engine will put out only approximately 1/3 of that at 1200 rpms (29.1 in-lbs of torque.)
Keep that in mind or you will be sorely disappointed when the go kart repeatedly stalls or burns up belts.
The second thing to understand is that a belt clutch is very hard on belts. Especially when neutral drops or high rev engagement are done repeatedly. The ideal is to have the belt engage at the lower rpm and then have the engine lug up to the desire cruising speed.
The third thing to understand is that pulleys are sensitive to heat build up and can if not selected properly fly apart or melt. The zinc die cast pullies, especially the small ones, are designed for fractional horsepower motors such as electric fans and so forth.
The sudden engagement will heat up the pulley to 300+ degrees F and cause the zinc or aluminum to melt and fly apart. Be sure to invest in a good quality steel pulley, especially if the pulley is being used as a clutch driver.
The fourth thing is that there is much debate over making belts go around corners, do twists or all sorts of design gymnastics, but the truth of the matter is that belts are designed to flex and carry loads.
The fifth thing is "What kills a belt?" Four things kill belts:
1. Sudden engagement (shock loads)
2. Prolonged Slipping
3. Poor Tracking
4. Improper load tension sizing
If you keep these four issues in check you will have a long lasting go kart drive system that will last years instead of weeks. And finally, belt drives, especially clutch belt drives, are very driver dependant. Like a clutch on a car, one poor engagement can wreck a clutch, the same goes with belt drives.

The Many Practical Roles of the ATV
We explore the many roles of the ATV from business to pleasure and everything in between. The ATV has emerged as much more than a recreational off-road vehicle.
The ATV, or all terrain vehicle, once considered pure recreation and excitement has emerged as much more than that. Years of innovations in the ATV industry have produced superior machines with extraordinary reliability and performance. Aside from enjoying the wooded trails and sand dunes, the ATV has found itself in numerous practical roles including search and rescue, law enforcement, agriculture and farming, snow removal, hunting and patrol of gamelands, and just about any job that requires access to areas previously unreachable by four wheel drive trucks. The four wheel drive (4x4) ATV models in particular have exploded onto the scene.
These utility ATVs capable of being driven by all four wheels, are able to perform far more tasks than originally anticipated. The addition of accessories including luggage and storage racks and powered winches have also impacted the use of ATVs for business and practical purposes. Engines can range in size with maximum displacement as high as 800cc providing plenty of power for towing, dragging, and other tasks. A reverse gear provides much more versatility than the mono-directional ATVs of earlier years. Shaft drives have replaced chain and sprocket drives on the original sport models. PTO has become an option providing power for those who need to drive external accessories and machinery. With a plethora of options available, the 4x4 utility ATV can be considered a viable off-road vehicle and useful tool rolled into one.
Law enforcement is a fine example of ATV use from a practical standpoint. The police have begun making use of ATVs for patrolling as well as search and rescue. The ability of the ATV to travel off-road in less than perfect road or trail conditions makes the ATV the perfect tool for police in rural areas. In areas where horseback and foot patrol used to be the only option, the ATV can provide a reliable means of travel, and in some cases a much longer range. In a city environment, ATVs play a huge role in crowd control. The ATV has also made beach patrols far easier for enforcement officers. Large areas of sandy beach can be patrolled in a relatively short period of time versus good, old fashioned walking. Firefighters also can reach wooded areas normally off-limits to firetrucks and medical personnel now have a means of assisting and retrieving individuals in need of emergency medical care.
The use of ATVs in agriculture and farm operations is most predominant of all. Small and medium sized farms have made use of ATVs performing tasks previously performed by horses and by good old human power. The application of pesticides has become more efficient due to the availability of ATV-mounted pesticide applicators. The feeding of livestock has become easier using ATVs for hauling and distributing feed. Mowing smaller fields can be more efficient with ATVs over full size tractors especially in areas with limited access.
The relocation of dirt and gravel, a simple task done for a variety of reasons, has been made easier as ATVs can reach areas not accessible by pickup truck or tractor. Seeding is another example of life made easier on the farm by means of ATV, an attached ATV spreader can ease the workload associated with seeding crops as well. Tilling can also be accomplished via ATV. A cumbersome tiller attached to a full size tractor may not always work well in areas with limited access or difficult maneuverability.
Anyone who has ever ridden an ATV for recreational purposes knows how gratifying and enjoyable riding can be and it is always interesting to see exciting new roles played by the all terrain vehicle as they continue to emerge year after year. Through the use of new and innovative accessories, larger engines, better suspension and control, we can only imagine where we'll find an ATV next.

ATV World is Changing
Throughout the past few years, the ATV industry is seeing more and more buyers, especially those in their twenties and this is a fact that is sending the ATV industry up the rollercoaster track. Whether it's used ATV or brand new ATVs, retailers and manufacturers are seeing an encouraging growth and recognize the fact that this sport is becoming much more popular than before.
ATVs were first considered as a "toy" for adults - a vehicle that isn't a car, not a main mean of transportation and not a race car. It's between everything. Something recreational and provides fun, excitement and can also be used for work. Because of the price, ATVs used to be designed for the sake of simplicity and convenience. That also means that the old-school type of ATVs has nothing much to look at.
As a direct response to the growing number of younger ATV buyers, manufacturers are starting to take a closer look at the way their ATVs are designed. The taste and preference of the younger generation differs tremendously with the older generation. They want flash, colors, cool designs, cut, sleekness, speed, and bright, enthusiastic designs. They don't want the boring old ATVs designed for the farm! This very same trend is seen in sale of motor homes, trailers and van campers. Manufacturers of ATVs see an upward trend and a sale record that is simply astounding. Many new owners of ATVs said that they are getting loans that are equivalent to a second-home loan for the ATVs or RVs. Some even commented that some of the loans could be stretched up to 15 years and they are able to deduct the interest for tax purposes too. This could be one of the many reasons why many more people can afford to purchase their own ATVs nowadays.
As the target audience begins to widen and take a change, manufacturers are hiring younger and 'funkier' designers with creative taste to design their newer ATV models. ATV retailers are also operating in more channels to help sell the ATVs to a younger audience. As such, most online ATV stores are being credited by big brands and they offer very good prices for ATVs. Even the Chinese ATVs are getting more popular!
The world of ATV is certainly, without a doubt, positively changing.

What You Should Know Before Purchasing a Used ATV?
The secondhand ATV market is a great place to find your first ATV. By doing diligent research you can make an intelligent purchase and lessen your chances of getting burned. Know what to look for and where to go to find a great deal on a used ATV.
Not everyone can drop down the thousands of dollars for a brand new ATV with all of the latest features. For many people the only options of jumping into the exciting sport of riding ATV's is buying second hand. There is nothing wrong with buying second hand, every year millions of used cars, motorcycles and ATV's are bought by people like you and I. There are some simple things that you need to know and what to look for before you decide on a used ATV. Before you begin your hunt of a new ATV you will want to identify whether you want your vehicle for leisure off roading, motocross racing, or as a utility vehicle for your ranch.
The best place to start but unfortunately the last place in peoples mind is your local dealership. Who better to know about people who are looking to trade their old ATV in for a brand new model, than the Honda or Yamaha dealership. Another use for your local dealership is to shop for a ATV that will fit your style, sit on a few, ask some questions before you come to a decision on the type of ATV you want before looking through your classifieds.
After collecting all of the data that you need to make an informed purchase, you can begin your search. Like I said before start with your dealer, local riding clubs or organizations are also a good place to look for people wanting to get rid of their old machine. Check on the Internet for ATV's for sale, Craigslist is an invaluable resource. In my honest opinion, I would save classifieds to my last choice.
Once you locate an ATV that you are interested in it is important to do a thorough inspection. A quick visual appearance will give you an idea of how the previous owner treated the ATV. Next you will want to dig deeper and unless you are a experienced mechanic, bring in a professional to check it out mechanically. Check out the undercarriage, and frame to make sure there are no cracks or dents in the frame. Check out the handlebars for any loose play in the steering. Inspect the tires, loose wheels could indicate damaged ball joints or worn wheel bearings.
While you are involved in your mechanical check, inspect the owners manual to see if scheduled maintenance has been performed. You will need to ensure that the owner has a free and clear title, and it is a good idea to have a VIN (vehicle Identification Number) inspection done. Make sure you get a bill of sale to protect both seller and buyer.
Always keep in mind that when buying a used ATV you are buying as is. This means that after the purchase is completed that the old owner is not responsible for any problems that might arise. By doing a detailed inspection of the things that I have mentioned in this article you can be more at ease in your purchasing decisions.

ATV Safety Courses and What You Should Know
ATV's are great fun, there is nothing like spending a weekend riding the back road trails on an ATV. Aside from the tons of excitement and fun you will have it is important to keep safety in mind. Start by taking a certified ATV safety course to ensure a fun filled and accident free great time.
There is nothing like the feelings of riding the back road trails on a ATV, it is a unlimited source of fun and excitement. Having a great day on the trails with the sun on your face and the wind in your hair is like nothing else. The sport of recreational ATV riding can bring families together, provide an environment to meet new friends and in general bring an enjoyment to our lives. With all of the good times comes a responsibility, you have to keep in mind that you are operating a motorized vehicle and safety must come into play.
Before hopping on to your brand new ATV it is highly suggested that you consider attending an ATV safety training course. Unlike a motorcycle or car, a license is not needed to operate an ATV. Most people will learn to ride an ATV from friends or family members, while overall this is not a bad idea, there could be some important points especially in the safety area that could be left out.
There are many places that offer ATV safety courses, and it is as simple as inquiring at your local ATV dealer to find them. Something that you want to keep in mind though is that not all safety courses have certified teachers. In 1988 the ATV Safety Institute (ASI) was created to educate ATV riders in the safe operation of their all terrain vehicles. This was put into place in hopes of reducing the amount of accidents that happened on a yearly basis. Since the inception of the ASI we have seen a sharp decrease in the number of recreational ATV accidents, so it seems like ASI was a successful operation.
Many dealers including Honda, Yamaha and Artic Cat will offer you the opportunity to attend a ATV safety course for Free. Even if you don't personally own an ATV but find yourself riding friends or family members you can still take the course for a small fee. Many courses provide the ATV to learn on, but you might inquire before signing up whether they provide the ATV or you need to bring your own.
The ASI course will provide you all of the basics of riding and operating an ATV, and it only takes about half a day to complete the course. Instructors will give you step by step instructions on how to handle different terrains and different environments. You will learn the best safety equipment and how to start and stop your ATV properly. Later on in the course you will learn how to traverse hills and obstacles on a closed course.
ASI safety courses are offered for practically all ages starting as young as 6 years old on up. Show your family that you care by taking the safety course and ensuring all family members involved in riding ATV's do so also.

The Top Ten Most Reliable Japanese Cars
Japanese cars come with a long list of reasons why to purchase them with the top reasons being reliability, fuel economy, and longevity. Face it; there are Japanese vehicles on the road today that are twenty years old or older.
Japanese cars come with a long list of reasons why to purchase them with the top reasons being reliability, fuel economy, and longevity. Face it; there are Japanese vehicles on the road today that are twenty years old or older. Every year Warranty Direct, an independent mechanical breakdown insurer, compiles a list of the top 20 cars in the world. And the majority of the vehicles that show up in the top 20 - usually around 16 of them - are Japanese vehicles. More often than not, the Honda Accord is sitting at number one.
How does Warranty Direct rank these vehicles? They take a look over the database of vehicles sold in the previous year and then rank them on how they performed and the frequency of failure over the year. The list includes both new and used vehicles, with used vehicles being purchased more than new ones.
So what were the top ten most reliable Japanese cars of last year?
1. Honda Accord
2. Subaru Forester
3. Mazda MX-5
4. Mitsubishi Carisma
5. Toyota Yaris
6. Honda Civic
7. Nissan Almera
8. Honda CR-V
9. Toyota RAV4
10. Nissan Micra
The British built Jaguar X-Type placed at number 13, the highest non Japanese vehicle to make the list. The Mercedes Benz SLK showed up at number 25, the first place the German cars showed up.
Used car experts agree that people looking to buy cars that are reliable and will not break down should purchase any vehicle that is made by a Japanese automaker. Warranty Direct's statistics back up this assessment, and many auto experts will agree and even advise that people purchase a used Japanese car.
Volvo came in 15th with the S/V40, the highest spot the Swedish manufacturer managed on the list. Ford's Ka came in 22nd, with the Hyundai's Lantra and the Citroen Xsara coming in behind it.
With today's consumers being more cautious about the vehicles they buy, reliability seems to be the top reason for picking a Japanese car. However, it is not the top consideration people look at when choosing a specific model over another one. Japanese used cars require less maintenance than most other brands, and consumers would prefer to drive their cars than spend money on expensive garage bills. With care and basic maintenance, a Japanese car can run over 200,000 miles, just enough to knock the dust from production out of its system.

Learning to Drive - An Overview
Learning to drive can be a very rewarding experience. All the time knowing that the many hours of lessons will eventually translate into your very own Driving License, forever providing you with unprecedented freedom to go where you want, when you want. Within reason!
Learning to drive can be a very rewarding experience, all the time knowing that the many hours of lessons will eventually translate into your very own Driving License, forever providing you with unprecedented freedom to go where you want, when you want. Within reason!
The journey begins when you hit 17 and you receive your provisional driving license through the post, and you immediately want to get on the phone to book your first lesson. I personally went through 3 driving instructors before I found the right one, but this was mainly because I was the oldest in my year at school I couldn't just ask my friends who they had used. However, I finally found an instructor who seemed much more knowledgeable than the others, and he inspired a higher level of confidence in me. Lessons don't come cheap so it really is worth doing as much research as possible. When finding an instructor, note that fancy adverts and higher prices mean very little, whilst word of mouth means a lot.
Once you have started learning to drive with an instructor, it can be a good idea to get in some practise with a family member or friend in between lessons. The only rules are that the main driver must be over the age of 21, and have been driving for a minimum of 3 years. However, it is also important to note that you should use this as a tool to keep things your instructor has taught you fresh in your mind. It is generally a bad idea to take tips and advice from someone who has had a license for 3 years due to the number of bad habits they will have picked up. These bad habits might make things easier, but they won't impress your instructor or an examiner!
Once the big day comes around you will be a bag of nerves, but the only advice one can give is to try and relax. Your instructor will only put you in for the practical test when he knows you are ready, so keep that in mind.
Passing your test is a fabulous experience, and your first solo drive will be a landmark event in your life. However, take heed of the fact that the first 2 years after passing the driving test are lethal, with over a thousand young lives lost each year on UK roads. Leave sooner, drive slower, live longer.
There are some great websites around full of useful resources for the learner driver. One of the best I have found is 2pass, which has everything from mock Theory Test questions to a directory of Driving Schools

Scrappage - The Best Time Ever to Buy a New Car
With the UK government introducing a car Scrappage scheme offering 2,000 pounds off a new car and manufacturers offering discounts too, is this the best time ever to buy a new car? Hold on though, dig a little deeper and you may find that you can save a lot more than the governments offering.
With the government Scrappage scheme now in full swing, has there ever been a better time to buy a new car? So long as your old banger qualifies, you can get £2,000 off your next new car when you trade in your old one. Hold on though, dig a little deeper and you may find that you can save a lot more than the governments offering.
Leading up to the announcement of the scheme many manufacturers were already suffering in this economic downturn and as a result it was possible to achieve discounts on new cars well in excess of the two thousand pounds now being offered. The result? Not all manufacturers are treating the Scrappage scheme exactly the same. Some are topping up existing bonuses, some are offering the straight two thousand off list price, but others are offering existing bonuses and the £2,000 on top and that is where the bargains are to be had.
As with other Scrappage schemes that have been running in other countries for a while now, the majority of interest seems to have been generated around small cars. Cars such as the Citron C1, small, economical and cheap, with a list price of £7,945, the C1 looks a great deal when you knock off the £2,000, do your research though and you may be able to knock off a further four hundred pounds or so. Then it really is a bargain.
For those who need something a little larger, both Vauxhall and Renault are also participating in the Scrappage scheme and both manufacturers are offering well in excess of the two thousand pounds just about across the range of their vehicles. In fact on some of their larger family cars it is not uncommon to find savings well above five thousand pounds.
It doesn't stop at the lower or medium ends of the market either. Even some of the luxury manufacturers have signed up to the scheme. Forget two thousand pounds off an Audi A3, with a little homework you should be able to get a lot closer to three thousand off even their most basic model and as the list prices rise, so do the savings.
So for the fortunate few who are looking to change their car in the next year and they have a vehicle that qualifies for the Scrappage scheme, do your homework and this may truly be the best time ever to buy a new car.
Dave Foord is the content writer for a number of websites. If you are looking to take advantage of the Car Scrappage Scheme to buy a cheap new car, make sure you take a look at Citroen C1 Scrappage Deals.

The Muscle Car Cycle
Whether they are creeping slowly down the town strip, fish tailing down country roads, or driving down the long stretches of desert highway, the American car rumbling under the power of a large engine just seems to fit. In fact, while the true origin of the modern automobile can be debated, the muscle car is something that's wholly American. What is a muscle car?
Whether they are creeping slowly down the town strip, fish tailing down country roads, or driving down the long stretches of desert highway, the American car rumbling under the power of a large engine just seems to fit. In fact, while the true origin of the modern automobile can be debated, the muscle car is something that's wholly American.
What is a muscle car?
The exact definition of what a muscle car is can be a bit fuzzy, but most typically revolve around a V8 engine reserved for a larger sedan or even a truck being placed into a medium sized sedan. These sedans were typically two door vehicles. These smaller, but by no means small, cars paired with progressively larger engines meant vehicles which could unleash a great deal of power in a relative short time.
A brief history Though this practice was fairly common amongst the bootleggers during Prohibition, the earliest credited muscle car to be produced by an automobile manufacturer is usually cited as the 1949 Oldsmobile Rocket 88. The Rocket 88 came with a new high-compression, overhead valve V-8 dropped into a light weight body, resulting in the speed and power combination which would become standard.
A few other manufacturers produced them throughout the 1950s, with many more producing the cars and engines separately, resulting in the hot rod trend. It wasn't until the 1960s when most American manufacturers started to make cars which rolled off the assembly line fitting the muscle car definition. By the end of the 1960s, it seemed that every American automobile maker was producing at least one, with competition pushing down prices and increasing demand. The golden age swept in fully, and saw the market become strong enough to fragment, dividing itself into high power muscle cars, affordable pony cars, and even lower powered models for starting enthusiasts.
Why did they decline?
Like the fall of the Roman Empire, the death of the muscle car came from a variety of sources. The automobile safety and emissions standards which Ralph Nader started crusading for in the 1960s started to become law - mandating standards, which better for people and the environment, limited the viability of the muscle car. The OPEC oil embargo of 1973 saw large scale gasoline rationing, price controls, and gas station lines, helped to make them impractical and move the American buyer towards smaller cars. The muscle car was becoming more difficult to produce and more expensive to own, a two front approach that largely spelled doom for the breed.
When did they come back?
The trend towards smaller cars lasted through the remainder of the 1970s and into the 1980s. It was then when gas prices eased back towards historic lows, the Japanese economy found itself in hard times, and Americans rediscovered a love for larger cars. Granted, those larger cars were sport utility vehicles, but they started a horsepower love affair. This affair bled over into a re-ignition of the muscle car, perhaps first with the Dodge Magnum RT, a blend of sports car and a station wagon, and then drifting into the rebirth of the Dodge Charger and the Pontiac GTO.
Alas, the rebirth was short lived, ending because of similar issues as the first era - high gas prices, increasing emissions standards, and a move by consumers towards smaller and more efficient vehicles. Whether or not the muscle car will make a third resurgence has yet to be seen. One thing that is certain is that Americans seem to be drawn to powerful vehicles no matter what part of the country they call home.

Classic Cars - Volkswagen Beetle
The Volkswagen Beetle began production in 1983, and was produced right up until 2003. This is an impressive 65 years of production, which has seen a total of 21.5million Beetles having rolled off the production lines worldwide. It featured a rear air cooled engine feeding power to the rear wheels, and was designed for sustained high speed on the German Autobahns, and thanks to this extremely robust design featuring high build quality it ultimately became the longest-running and most-produced automobile of a single design in the entire world.

The original brief was to produce a cheap, economical and reliable car for the working class. Adolf Hitler and Ferdinand Porsche were the two men responsible for kick starting the birth of the Volkswagen Beetle, and it went on to become a true classic thanks to its legendary reliability with an almost unbreakable gearbox, and both its unique shape and the unmistakable sound of its air cooled engine.
Like the Mini and the Citroen 2CV, the Beetle has become representative of the swinging sixties, and will always be associated with hippies and surfers thanks to its unique and alternative design. The beetle went on to become a classic car and has been made infamous thanks to its numerous appearances in Hollywood films, where most famously it starred as Herbie in the Love Bug, which also had a spin-off comedy series which ran from 1968 through to 2005. It was also made famous as the Autobot Bumblebee who took the form of a yellow Beetle in the popular Transformers series.
Strangely, in 1998 the Beetle was re-engineered and re-released, 4 years before the original Beetle ceased production! Unfortunately perhaps it shares little with its predecessor other than its name and its appearance, and as such has lost almost all of its charm. The new Beetle is essentially a modern VW Golf chassis with all the added features you would expect of a modern car. It's certainly safer, easier to live with and more comfortable than the original, but the character of the original Beetle made it a true classic car.
